BURNING MAN - A Tourist's contribution to Burning Man
MY STORY |
I’ve been "burning" since 2009 and each year I try to contribute a variety of things back to the community. Even though my playa name is TOURIST, I am definitely more than that. |
I believe that Burning man is a canvas where all participants should contribute color to bring it to life. My contributions / projects have been … |
Temporary Tattoos |
To go into the deep playa and carefully vacuum the desert just to give people something to laugh about (the apron is a must) |
To hand out vibrators |
To hand out watermelon slices at sunset and (mostly) sunrise (a friend follows with a trash bag) |
To take photos of people with my L - O - V - E letters. These letters were cut out from old bicycle boxes and painted pink. |
Take photos of burners with this Plexiglas mirror I had made so they can reflect what they LOVE in the mirror |
I played with Burners by dangling a butterfly at the end of a fishing rod which sparked the inner child in them to gently play with the butterfly. |
Me with my kids |
To take virgins and my children to Black Rock City so they spread the love in the default world |
Volunteer as a Temple Guardian each year |
Because I have had a childhood sticker collection, I decided to gift stickers most years. It's important to me that the recipient of the gift identify with the sticker and there isn’t an artist’s signature on the sticker. |
2009 Evolution (bumper sticker) |
2010 Metropolis (the sticker wasn’t really theme related) |
2013 Cargo Cult |
2014 Caravansary |
2015 Carnival of Mirrors |
2016 DaVinci's Workshop |
2017 Radical Ritual (for me, musical beats are a part of rituals) |
2018 iRobot |
2019 Metamorphosis |
2022 Waking Dreams |
… and I fight to get a ticket to be able to do this again each year. |
